1951 Dennis F12 Pump EscapeThis 1951 Dennis F12 (reg-MAH 580) was new to the Norfolk Fire Brigade and served at Kings Lynn until 1968,then moved to the training school at Wymondham. Its unclear when it went out of service but its known to have been in preservation in the Surrey area for many years, also information shows it to have been kept in a barn near Caernarfon in Wales with a preservationist.Look at (
picture 22621) taken in 1992 and it shows the appliance also having made its way back home to Norfolk actually on display at the Bressingham Steam Museum.
The appliance is now owned by Chris Wood, but its been sadly negleted over the years (no fault of Chris) and is now only good enough for spares.
I photographed MAH 580 back in her glory days of preservation at an emergency services weekend show at Brooklands Pleasure Park on the A259 between Lancing and Worthing in West Sussex around about 1980.
I'd like to thank Ian Moore,Chris Wood and Andy Middleton for adding some information on this appliances history because I new nothing about the appliance.Having no markings(brigade/badge)made it difficult to research this appliance and I've never come across,or seen this appliance again until now on this site.
Its a shame really that it maybe no longer looks like this, and another part of Dennis's history in fire engine manufacturing gone for ever.
