My late Father a station officer in the LFB - he was involved in an accident with a lorry on a shout - sadly the fire engine driver was thrown out and the engine rolled over him killing him. My father was in hospital because the fireman's axe on his belt the snapped on his hip. This made front page of the Evening Post. This happened in 1958/9 approx.
