West Ham Dennis Big 4 rescue tender/CAV JD3659
Delivered on 20th November 1933 to WHFB the unique RT based on a bus type body - to quote from my book on this brigade - "1933 Dennis Big 4 rescue tender (RT)/canteen van, unique to West Ham, and painted blue and cream, not red. Post-war, cold cutting gear was added to the RT. It was based at Plaistow".

I just learned from Massey Shaw's book that the design of the exaggerated comb on the LFB brass helmet was expressly designed to prevent facial damage to the wearer in the event he fell forward.
This design feature can be clearly seen on the chap's helmet hanging over his arm on the right...No idea how effective it was, though!
