This is BEX 812C which was on the run at Great Yarmouth before reserve duties. I would appreciate seeing any other Norfolk vehicles that you may have photographed on the day. At the time, there was a thriving collection of preserved vehicles, mostly with a Norfolk history which used to get taken to local events. Thanks, Chris.

Does BEX812C still exist? I've been informed that she has left the Bessingham Steam museum. Former Great Yarmouth CBFB appliance was replaced by Mercedes-Benz 1625/Mountain Range/Simon SS263 G35 KVG in 1990. According to the DVLA website, BEX812C has gone abroad and was last taxed in 1989.
Andrew, BEX 812C was replaced at Great Yarmouth by XCL 22X, a Dennis HP which carried booms from a former City of Norwich ERF, JCL 999G. The Dennis had a relatively short life in Norfolk before seeing further service in Ireland. Incidentally, the sister Dennis, XCL 21X (Norwich City and King's Lynn), was sent over to Romania for further service a few years ago. I have no knowledge of BEX 812C ever being part of the Norfolk Fire Museum at Bressingham. No Norfolk vehicles are housed at Bressingham anymore.

Many thanks for the update Chris. I photographed XCL 22X in Dublin in 2003.
Yes this is SS65' (SS=Simon Snorkel, the Dudley based company that made most platforms in Britain). Oddly when Corgi made a model of a very similar appliance the booms were painted red and looked all wrong. I repainted mine white. Otherwise it was quite a good representation of this type. It had the semi open rear cab and rear facing seats. I am not sure which brigade it was based on. The example on this site are single cabbed. See picture 40433 for example.
Thanks, Chris.
