1933 Datsun factory built fire appllianceBuilt by Nissan Motor Company in Japan, this gorgeous little appliance was originally based in Kawasaki, a suburb of Tokyo, where it stayed in service until 1960. It is fitted with a 200GPM pump, several hundred feet of hoses, 4 different nozzles and a hand cranked siren. It is powered by a 772cc, 16HP, 4 cylinder side valve engine. Amazing for such a compact design. In 1962 it was purchased by Ed Daniels who was based in Yokohama as a serving member of the USN. During 1962 it was handed to Nihon Kikai Limited (fire engine manufacturers) where it was restored. In 1964 it was shipped back to Oakland, California, when Mr Daniels was stationed in San Francisco. In 1967 it was moved again to New York, where it stayed until his retirement in 1976. By 1987 it was moved again to Reading, Pennsylvania, but it was now in need of major restoration. In 2002 this finally happened, with over 1500 hours and two years put into bringing this appliance back from the brink. Sold in 2005 to a private collector this trophy winning masterpiece is now in very safe hands and still resides in the USA.
