Dennis F1 Pump

This is 'NED' a 1955 Dennis F1 built for Joseph Crossfields soap manufacturers at Warrington and was the successer to 'Jezebelle' who features on the Dennis page. After the works brigade was disbanded the appliance was gifted to Warrington Fire Station and it eventually ended up with Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service Heritage Group joining five other appliances. The original petrol engine was replaced by a diesel engine which came from a combine harvester! Although the appliance is over 50 years old it had only 6000 miles on the clock

Your F1 is a very neat and tidy looking appliance, uncluttered some might say. Does anyone know of a local authority brigade in the UK that used an F1? I know they were used in Ireland but over here they seem to be confined to works brigades. Perhaps they just came along too late as enclosed cabs were taking over.

There were no UK local authority versions of the F1, and the only one in Ireland was that which went to North Tipperary (FI 3846).

Thanks for that many were produced?

The total number of the F1 model constructed comes out at 159.

Thanks Ian, a mine of information as usual! Is there any chance you know the total number of F2s produced? (no harm in asking I say).

What are the pump and tank capacities of the Dennis F1?

Added by Bill Edwards on 03 June 2013.
The tank is only a small one for the hose reel...possibly 100gals or maybe a bit less, as for the pump, I am not sure, I will have to look, but it is the normal 2 delivery Dennis Pump
