Underneath that remodelled bumper and grill lies the familiar 20-odd-year-old ford cargo cab. I thought ford ceased production of this cargo model in the early 90s, but obviously this is not the case in some countries.

Yes you are right, this is still in production in brazil, as are many even older cab designs from the bmc / leyland range, dating back 30 + years or so.

I guess it's down to money, and the bumper looks to be from a sisu, which use many renault parts in there manufacturing.

Got to admit, smart looking piece of kit mind....

Almost all trucks sold in Brazil are locally manufactured, so fire services mainly choose either VW (really MAN), Scania or these Fords.

These Cargos are also often exported to other South and Central American countries, too, and are quite popular with many of their fire services.

They include various weight capacities and engine choices, including heavier and more powerful versions than were ever marketed in Europe.

Cargos are also still in production in Turkey, and Turkish fire services operate quite a few of them too...
