Hi john. The Dennis ET's were good vehicles, quite fast but had a tendancy to bounce over bump and humps in the road they had stiff springs on them, and with them being very short seen to make it worse. They were a bit high as well for getting gear from the two big lockers in the side. The rear was ok because of the rear bumper to climb on. Unfortunately the cabs suffered from the dreaded rust, the bottom of the door, the cab floor and above the windscreen. Over all good compact vehicle. Not sure how well the Volvo HRU's will last. They don't go to jobs as much as the Dennis's with the introduction of the rescue pumps, and all other water ladders have some sort of hydraulic rescue gear on them. The Dennis's went to all RTA's, with some having very large areas to cover. There is no spare for the HRU's so they would have to use a spare pump and see what equipment fits. There is talk of a new ALP, another Merc to replace the Volvo at Harrogate, this would then be the spare ALP as there is no spare at the moment.
i remember York's 2 and they seemed plodders but not so bad i guess.
what acts now then if Ripon or Tads hru goes off the run and are they a good appliance?
keep the pics comming mate, john.
