Brandweer Kapellen Belgium Unimog

Outside Kapellen (Belgium) you can find a forest. To handle fires inside this terrain you need special vehicles. This Unimog 1100 is such a vehicle. It has been refurbished by the Belgium firm Dias. The Fire brigade of Kapellen is not the first owner of this truck. In 1983 the Dutch fire brigade of Lelystad bought this car. The bodywork was built by Doeschot-Rosenbauer. In 1997 Lelystad sold this car to the brigade of Kapellen.

Unimogs are not only outstanding performers when it comes to extreme off road performance, but they are also very durable!

This unit's 22 year operational service life is by no means exceptional, and many far older Mogs are in front line fire fighting service all over the World.

To be fair, most of them do not get much action in the Winter and Spring, but when they are deployed they do often inevitably have to operate for hours on end in very rough conditions.

I have driven some of these off road, and their abilities are only limited by the skill/experience/bravery of the driver!

They are usually more expensive than most other 4X4 alternatives, but there are good reasons why....
