Watertender Alphen aan den RijnThe fire brigade of Alphen aan den Rijn has three similar watertenders on a Mercedes Benz 1325 F chassis. The bodywork is from Ziegler. Pumpcapacity : 2800 l/m low pressure, 265 l/m high pressure and a tank with 1500 litres of water.
The units came into service in 2005. Callsigns : 830, 831 and 840.

Two particularly notable features.
Although not clearly visible in this photo, they still have a seven seat cab, configured so that everyone except the driver can don his or her set on the way to an incident. Although they do run with only six sometimes, Netherlands fire services usually get seven on a pumper.
The second feature is the powered roof rack for ground ladders and suctions, speeding up both the removal and replacement of these.
Dutch fire services set into open water very often, because open water access is just about every where - and pump performance is not restricted by a hydrant or water main capacity!
So a pair of really long suctions which can be very rapidly thrown in make a lot of sense...
I don't know how well the stripes work - they are on all emergency vehicles and are meant to make them more easily identifiable, especially in intersections. The old treatment was a simple white "belly bandage" like the DDR appliances and some US FDs.
