Dennis F44 No 405 Fire Engine

We have purchased a Dennis F44 No 405 and have recently began to restore our engine and would like some information & history of the fire engine. We believe it was originally stationed at Newcastle or Sydney Australia and we would appreciate any assistance. Does anyone have comments about this Dennis. Can anyone also tell me how you refer to the fire engines are they a him or a her?

Steve, this Dennis F44 has some unbelievable locker space. That ladder, have you been able to ascertain if it was supplied with the original machine? I'm wondering about the metal wheels at its head? Perhaps the Doctor or Ian could enlighten us, , , ,

Not the correct ladder, they had 11m alloy ones.

Goodness knows where they got that ladder from, but as regards the lengthy locker aft of the rear wheels, this was a quirk - and obviously a build requirement - with several NSW Dennis appliances.

The over hang of the rear lockers is quiet normal.The Dennis D 600 are the same.
