1944 Dodge pumper
this is a 1944 Dodge T110L pumper with Kronenburg bodywork and pump. it was put to service with the fire brigade of Leidschendam in the Netherlands in 1947. it service until the 1970s. it used to by a militair truck.

That precise, the pump and its controls are at the rear.
The Dutch fire brigades loss a lot of they fire engines in the last year of the war, after the war a loss of formal military trucks where put in service as fire engines in the Netherlands as well as around 100 Austin K2 ATV units.
Also a lot of Dodge "Beep" and Dodge T110L trucks, Chevrolet MS4400 and Ford G8T trucks form the states. And a large number of Chevrolet and Ford CMP trucks.

Like their Dutch brothers, French fire services also adapted hundreds of GMC 2.5 ton 6X6 ex US army WWII vintage chassis for use as brush pumpers.
A few of these are illustrated on this site, and examples were also to be found in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
Some very very basic, with only the addition of a 3000 liter tank, a portable pump, a bit of plumbing and a coat of red paint. But others were much more sophisticated, like this Dutch Dodge, with custom bodywork and full four door crew cabs.
I saw several in action at a forest fire in the national forest near Fontainebleau in 1971, when these were all at least 25 years old. They were of course later gradually replaced by new Mercedes, MAN, Iveco and Renault brush trucks, but they did sterling service for quite a long time...
New American trucks continued to be very popular with fire services in the Netherlands and Belgium well into the 1960s, until they too were replaced by European brands. Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge and International seem to have been the favorites in those days, although there were others too.
