Oshkosh P-4 in Cleveland, Tennessee

Found in a heavy equipment yard in Cleveland, Tennessee USA. No idea what it's doing there. It must run, someone put a 5 gal. bucket over the stack to keep the rain out of the motor.

Is this the OM12 as used by the USAF in the seventies?

Looks like the P4 Oshkosh 1500 as used by USAF

Thanks Robert. worked alongside them in the seventies, I remember them all being very slow and cumbersome on English roads!

Wow, it breaks my heart. The P-4 was a workhorse of a firetruck. It has both crash and structual capabilities. It was made to fit into a C-130 for deployment anywhere.

Btw: The bucket is covering the vent tube. Due to a slight design flaw, foam would get into the water tank. The vent tube allowed the suds to escape.

Thanks for the info Scott, I didn't even think about that. It's still there at that truck yard,. bucket over vent tube and all.
