Dennis F107 Emergency Tender Newcastle

Recent pictures on this site have shown the Shelvoke ET ETN909W. The Shelvoke was a replacement for the Dennis shown above. This was from a time when men were men and ETs were proper ETs....

Note the single blue light and one set of air horns, but it had bells which would frighten all in its path. Equipped with a hydraulic winch and an onboard generator it was the classis Dennis ET of the day. This picture of the ET leaving Pilgrim Street fire station in the heart of Newcastle shows the Newcastle and Gateshead livery of dark maroon with red lockers and silver pin striping.

I am grateful to Ian Moore for providing the source of this photograph.

Couldn't agree more, I am a serving Firefighter and have only crewed a small Dennis ET. I was born and brought up in Manchester and remember the big ET's on the run from London Road fire station. Great picture.

Yes, those were the days ! I was ideally sited for pictures like these back in the 1960s - my teenage years! The above shot was actually taken from my office steps !!!!!

I bet it was a choice piece of equipment to drive too, the boys certainly knew how to keep it clean, , , ,

This thing is an absaloute beast! The Newcastle & Gateshead livery is superb, it would be lovely to see it in this livery again.
Went past Pilgrim Street the other day, how sad to see it closed.

Contrary to what is so often believed, N&G was not the only brigade to adopt a non-red livery.
Leicestershire & Rutland also used maroon, and on a pre-war basis, so did Thornaby.

Ian, Flintshire used maroon to front the Commer VA's and I believe the F7 GDM 507 was as well. Never saw her.
