Bedford Water Ladder North Yorkshire Fire Brigade

1978 Bedford TK water ladder with bodywork by Cheshire Fire Engineering. Based at Tadcaster, North Yorkshire. Now out of service. Bedford was the main chassis/engine provider for North Yorkshire for many years, They eventually went over to Volvo when Bedfords became unavailable. The large "Fire" sign above the cab was a Stem light which raised above the appliance at the scene of an incident, eluminating a large area.

Paul - was this custom cab design pitched as a safety cab?

I am always interested that different bodybuilders used the very popular TK chassis in chassis-cab, chassis-cowl and bare chassis versions, as well as converting bare Bedford J series chassis, and installing custom bodywork during the same era. Were there any particular reasons for all these different approaches?
