hi hello!am mr.erwin s. batas from TACLOBAN FILIPINO CHINESE VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE, INC.tacloban city leyte philippines!wanted to exchange some logo or t-shirt from our brigade....thank you!
Can't help too much with the roof decoration! The sloping hood suggests it could be a Renault, but its difficult to be sure. The slightly newer lineuo includes two E-Ones, a Scania, a Pierce and a Benz.
On closer examination, it seems to have a rear mounted reciprocating pump with a vertical air vessel, possibly suggesting Merryweather. But the single rear spoked wheels with pneumatics, shaft drive and sloping hood all suggest a late 1920s or early 1930s Mack! So my guess is that it may be a locally-sssembled hybrid.....
Another interesting quesion is:- how did it get up there?
And by the way a correction - the fifth "modern" unit is not a Benz but a Brazilian VW. In Brazil, VW build a medium and heavy truck line using MAN components and an old VW light truck cab, and quite large numbers are in use as fire apparatus.
