Harvey, its good to see this old TL again, doesn't seem possible looking at the reg to think its now 17/18 years old. You've sent a great bunch of photo's in this time.Pete M.
now with lothian and borders i believe being used for spare parts for their other 3 second hand TL's, i think the cage has been already used on the ex isle of man TL E396RSC.
Ahh!, that would explain the MAN TL I saw at Newbridge during our appliance changeover a couple of months back now. Wondered where they had found it. Surprised though that L&B parted it out considering their other TL's are 'D' and 'E' reg's.
D240elj, is used as a reserve and f986nrv + e396rsc are on the run, possibly they can get spare parts to repair the actual chassis of these as they are all volvo fl's which is used by many brigades for appliances unlike the above appliance which to my knowledge is the only one still in exisitence on this chassis.
tolx are still running with the spare tl as far as i am aware, a mate of mine said he saw it on the m77, possible heading to angloco, unsure why. your station been busy? jamie

Up until very recently, Staffordshire F&RS operated an identical TL at Burton-Upon-Trent (M.A.N. 16-240/Angloco/Metz). Registered A 363 JRF, the appliance has since been superseded by a Bronto ALP on a Scania chassis. I believe the old M.A.N. TL can be found at the Bass Museum of Brewing in Burton alongside its predecessor, a 1964 Bedford TK Merryweather, Reg: RFA 869.
In the early and mid 80s, Staffordshire and East Susseex's fleets contained similar specials due to Sussex's Assistant Chief (Peter Reid) becoming Staffs Chief. As well as the TL, Staffs also bought three GMC Jeep J20 6x4 rescue tenders popular with East Sussex at the time.
