For its year this looks like a much safer solution for moving manpower around than relying on the contemporary Braidwood open box bodywork, which was pretty much the standard until 1931 - and survived in some brigades’ new purchases until 1940. I have to wonder if it also served to move regular police constables and perhaps even prisoners - as the brigade was both a fire service and a law enforcement agency?
