These are becoming a lot more widespread, but it seems that their adoption is not really all that enthusiastic. I think many fire services are a bit too conservative to jump all in to the idea of a fully electric vehicle, especially as several existing manufacturers are offering what are essentially hybrid versions of their already well proven and highly appreciated chassis. Another aspect is that a lot of this unit’s features are not necessarily needed by a lot of fire services. Four wheel drive, four wheel steering and four different ride heights are all nice to have, as is a potentially nine seat cab with conference configuration, but none of these is necessarily a requirement. I cannot address initial cost or repair ability, but I suspect these are also potential liabilities.

Thanks J-P! It is pretty much as I expected. I don’t know what the pricing or spare parts premium is on these, but I suspect it is quite considerable. Why buy four of these when you can get five equally useful trucks from Mercedes, MAN, Volvo or Scania?
