Four axle prime movers are still not all that common, but are becoming increasingly popular because of their higher GVW.

In the foreground is an example of the standard wheeled baskets which are now universal in Germany. Able to be loaded with virtually anything, they are typically loaded with a hydraulic lift gate into a van, truck or container which has corresponding rails. They are then secured in place, and can if desired also be stacked. In this way a single vehicle can be extensively equipped in a very short time for any required specialist role, for which supplies and enough baskets are to hand. It can also be equally useful by combining different gear for a single incident. For example, a basement fire might require extra BA, more ventilation fans, extra lighting, more generators, etc.
