Portable folding reservoirs have been a standard feature on North American fire service tankers for decades.

Added by Rob Johnson on 25 July 2026.
In North America the portable tank feature is very common. It allows the first arriving tanker with a folding container to dump its tank contents immediately and leave to replenish its tank, while subsequent arriving tankers can follow suit. At major incidents multiple folding containers can be deployed, with a fleet of tankers providing the continuous uninterrupted flow of water to pumpers at the fire front.
