FPT = pump water tender. Specifications varied between departments, but were typically around 2000 LPM with about a 3000 litre tank. Crew usually six but some had eight person cabs. Main ladder either 10, 12 or 15 metres and always accompanied by one or two hook ladders. Two one man hose carts were a standard feature, each holding ten 20 metre preconnected lengths of 65mm hoses. The single high pressure first aid hose reel was invariably mounted above the pump compartment in the rear, and was limited to outdoor and guidance fires as 45mm attack lines were required for structural fires.
