This configuration of first aid light pumpers (“premier secours”) in France emerged in the early 1900s and was basically pretty much unchanged for decades as they were updated over the next half century. The new design had a conventional enclosed four door truck crew cab for four to six crew members and retained the rear mounted pump and one man hose cart, with the eventual addition of one or more ladders. The design catered for a pump around 1000 LPM, growing to 1500 in later years and a small tank, also growing to around 600 litres. Apart from the hose reel and hose cart, there was not much additional equipment, although there were versions with a limited foam capacity. These were designated FPM.
