Heumaden with a population around 9,000 has 59 operational volunteers with an Atego pumper, a Unimog brush truck and a VW Transporter squad. The volunteer fire company is a component of the Stuttgart fire service, and works as necessary with both the city’s full time crews and other volunteer elements as well. So far this year they have responded to 27 alarms and have also provided standby coverage on occasion too.
