Southsea rally 1992.

delivered in February 1941 and as far as I know is stored by the Portsmouth Museum. Left service 1973, just before Portsmouth joined Hampshire.

Dennis Lancet /Merryweather Fire Appliances were ordered by the Home Office following the outbreak of World War 2 as part of an order for thirty three 100' (30m) turntable ladders to be supplied by the Home Office to Fire Brigades with additional needs because of wartime conditions. A total of 18 Dennis versions were built.

In August 1941 it became part of the National Fire Service. In 1948 the NFS was disbanded and local authority Fire Brigades reformed.

The Ford D series behind could also be ex Portsmouth as they had some of these.

Petros. Another great photo! Do you know if the 33 ladders you refer to were the entire wartime production by Merryweather, or just one order?
