With forty five years on the run in two volunteer fire companies, this TTL is a shining example of how a quality machine can have an amazing lifespan if it is not too busy and lovingly maintained by its owners.
Buchen has a population of 18, 000, and was the first owner of this ladder. It later saw service in Hardheim, which has around 9,000. Obviously not likely to be a busy life for this truck in either place, but it does tend to illustrate that even in quite small communities German volunteers take the need to have a TTL readily available very seriously.
