The hook ladder and two one man hose carts are very characteristic of French pumpers, although this compact combination pump-ambulance looks like it understandably carries a bit less hose than a full size Paris pumper. Although a very creative design, this series had three crew members and a regular stretcher in the compartment behind the cab, which meant a patient had to be loaded in from the side on a swivel. In addition, the presence of crew members in firefighting gear might have somewhat compromised the otherwise pristine cleanliness of that compartment. Both of these problems were overcome with the design of the next series, as illustrated on this site.
