Quite a handy unit, but I guess it is rather unusual for a fire service anywhere to be the agency operating a car carrier like this, especially one with blue lights! Much more often these are operated by commercial car repair or salvage companies, or by various organizations which provide roadside assistance to stranded motorists. I can’t quite imagine when or how carting around a written off junk car like this example becomes a blue light run!

Ed: being taken to station for use in extrication training? Many UK fire stations have wrecked cars in the yard.

Quite likely, but I don’t think that justifies the cost of having a specific vehicle for that job, nor can I see why it would need blue lights……
