Old Axor 18 ton chassis. Looks like a very complete job, making this old bus look like new! German fire services operate a lot of aerials, and it is quite often the practice to refurbish them like this after around twenty or so years. They can then return to reserve status or be sold to one of the more than 20,000 unpaid volunteer fire companies in the country. Similar traditions are to be found in many other countries with large numbers of volunteer fire companies, like Austria, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic, as these outfits can often only afford a used aerial.
