Australian and New Zealand fire pump builders often favor American pumps, which are typically designed principally for mid mounting; front or rear mounted pumps are very rare in the US, Canada and most of central and South America. Although there are still a lot of rear mounted pumps pumpers in both countries, the mid mounted pump offers a greater capacity to run out flaked hoses from the rear, which mimics the typical American layout.
