Nice compact rescue pumper, with a crew of six, these are the city’s standard workhorses, with one or two at each of the thirty five full time and fifty plus volunteer fire stations in Berlin.

They are able to handle the vast majority of incidents without any specials - unless you include turntable ladders - in attendance. One feature of these is the amazing design of the lockers to hold a marvelous standardized load of firefighting and rescue equipment -as well as a CAFS installation, which is the “ go to “ solution for almost every actual fire. Like most German fire services, Berlin adopted the 52mm attack hose many years ago as the first to be deployed at structure and vehicle fires, rather than relying on 23mm high pressure reels. This mimics the North American approach, which typically has dual 45mm preconnected flat hoses on a pumper, and most often no small diameter hose reel.
