These rescue tenders, which are focused primarily on road traffic accidents, are becoming rather less a feature of many departmental fire services in France as rescue pumpers (FPTSR) are increasingly coming into service. This evolution is rather similar to what has largely already happened in Germany, and seems likely to be repeated in other countries as rescue equipment commonly used in traffic accidents becomes more compact and versatile.
