This appliance worked out of the main station of Launceston for a period of time before being transferred to Rocherlea fire station (No 2 station) which was manned by both full time and retained firefighters
Looking at the different urban appliances from TAS, can someone explain the way vehicles are assigned Call Signs? Always interesting to know as we all have different ways of identifying our appliances. I'll do my bit and put up some pics from ACT RFS (old school) and give a naming explanation too.
Fireyowie, I for one look forward to seeing some pictures of the vehicles used by the(ACTRFS)Australian Capitol Territory Rural Fire Service.I have a vast collection of Australian appliance pictures in my collection collected over some twenty years, but know very little about the ACTRFS in Canberra.Pete(UK).

As regards call signs, The first number designates the vehicle type, these being 1 Heavy Pumper, 2 Medium Pumper, 3 Heavy Tanker (3000L), 4 Medium Tanker (2000l originally, but now with the adoption of the Mitsubishi Canter either 1000 to 1400L), 5 Light Tanker (600L), 6 Aerial Appliance, 7 General Transport Vehicle, 8 Miscellaneous-usually Hazmat but can also be Coms. The second number is the number of that vehicle within your brigade. For example My brigade is Lebrina, we have one medium tanker, so our call sign would be Lebrina 4.1, if we had a second medium tanker then it would be Lebrina 4.2. Hope this helps.
