Looks almost exactly like an American Jeep. I wonder what was in the “egg” on the trailer? This looks like a very interesting museum, based on this and also JP’s numerous other photos, not to mention the variety of other Berliet, Ford and Magirus exhibits in the background of this photo!
After the war many US WWII Jeep were left and used by the army, FD, gendarmerie etc... The French government decided to produce a model "made in France" however wasn't really popular!
I really would like to know how many 1000's of these Guinard pumps were produced as almost every FS, professional and volunteers in France as one, and some until today!
Just as British fire services demonstrated in WWII, the trailer pump was a very cost effective way of supplying a lot of firefighting capability with minimal expense. Rather fewer of these are in use these days, as countries have become more affluent, but in Germany especially it is still very common for fire stations to have a number of trailers for relatively rarely used special purpose equipment. These include foam, hose, hazmat, BA, boat trailers, lighting and ventilation units, among others.
