Is that a monitor on the roof? Or some kind of light? Although this newer, bigger cab may well be an improvement on the previous ones, it certainly looks pretty industrial. BTW, Is London embracing the “clean cab” concept, moving the BA sets back into separate lockers accessed only from the outside? I would have thought that doing this would have reduced the cab size needed, rather than making it bigger….

Thanks, I should have been surprised if London was adding monitors, but I thought that, in light of the recent wildfires around the city’s edges, it might have been a sensible addition. These RWD Ategos with their low ground clearance bodies are pretty much hopeless off road, and a monitor can compensate for this lack of ability to get close in to a wildfire sometimes…..For this reason, they are quite often installed on structural pumpers in the Netherlands, Germany and Poland, as well as a few other places.

Most recently the “deck guns” on numerous structural fire pumpers were deployed very effectively at the huge brush fires in New Jersey, backing up the dedicated brush pumpers in large numbers.
