Ford continued to build medium trucks in France until the early fifties, and quite a few chassis were used for pumpers like this example. After production was discontinued, the same chassis was available from Ford of Germany, but at that time French fire services were not inclined to buy the imported version. By the sixties a few new Mercedes did start to show up in French fire services, and of course several units from the WWII occupation were kept in service for quite a long time too.
