These had the Perkins 170 BHP V8 diesel engine, which was also installed by ERF, Ford and Dodge in fire appliance chassis. Although it was rare, it was quite possible for a brigade to source appliances with four different chassis manufacturers and have all of them with the same power unit. Although very popular, it was notoriously noisy and was a heavy smoker when cold!
