Note the hinged hose cart carrier frames, a relatively recent innovation to preserve the tender’s large angle of departure when operating off road. Earlier off roaders were not able to have hose carts, because they interfered with their off road capability.

Now a major feature of urban fire pumpers - namely a very useful extra hose load - has been added to these off road units with a single relatively simple modification.
