This firm is a relative newcomer, having been founded n 1989 to meet a gap in local fire truck manufacturing which obliged most Swiss fire services to buy a lot of imported vehicles. Since then, they have built some 900 fire trucks and these include a number of exports. This pumper with a 2000 litre tank is a neatly executed and rather compact unit, and probably as close to a British water tender specification as you can get.

With a population of 460,O00, Lausanne is protected by a very well equipped professional paid fire service supported by a large number of unpaid volunteer personnel.

Rob as opposed to a City numbering millions taking in numerous geographic areas which were served by numerous County services from Essex to Hertfordshire to Kent and Surrey until relatively recently. Criss crossed by the flight paths of 4 large airports. As you rightly say with Lausanne levels of fire fighting kit. What could possibly go wrong?

That remains to be seen. Although some fire services try to plan for everything, the unexpected always causes surprises.
