J-P Do you know if this was equipped to tow a boat trailer? Or maybe a small boat accessed from the rear? Most German dive team and/or water rescue tenders seem to carry or tow a boat, although in some places the fire service has a dedicated boat carrier which accompanies the water rescue truck.

Yes I think it can tow a boat trailer. This unit is based a the TD1 Technical-Rescue located north west Berlin. Most station located near the Spree (river passing in Berlin) are equipped with boat trailers which can be towed by the pump-rescues

I think Hamburg takes the prize for preparedness when it comes to water rescue. Every rescue pump in the city carries a small inflatable boat, filled by a portable on board compressor, and dozens of volunteer fire stations which do not yet have one of these do instead have a trailer with a small boat on board. Like other German cities, Hamburg has a plan to equip every volunteer station with a water rescue capable rescue pumper, but this project has not yet been fully implemented. All of the full time stations already have one - or in most cases - two.

Dresden as well like Hamburg both cities are on the same river, the Elbe. Currently on high alert as the level is very high!

True, but so far the only city I have learned about which carries a boat on every rescue pumper is Hamburg. Quite a few FDNY engines carry a life saver ring with a gun to launch the cord, but I think they rely mostly on their fireboats and Port Authority police patrol boats for most water rescues. I think that most water rescues don't actually involve any need for divers, which is a specialist rescue capability requiring a lot of extra training and certification. But a lot of German cities still seem to have them .....
