The 7.2 ton Iveco has replaced a lot of older Mercedes Vario 8 ton light pumpers and other smaller fire trucks, although some fire services like the Benz so much they have chosen to refurbish them rather than replace them. Certainly they have had a reputation for reliability which outshines Iveco products.

Always nice to see these German pumpers with open lockers, to reveal the often very comprehensive equipment they carry. One item which I came across in a recent presentation of a newly delivered German volunteer fire company pumper was something I had not seen before. A brand new teddy bear, to be given to any small child who had suffered the trauma of a fire, accident or other serious incident. Such a wonderful idea!
