Really a five ton VW with a MAN badge! VW bought out MAN a few years ago and their truck dealers now sell these rebadged light vans and trucks. So now Berlin can have a MAN KLF instead of a VW or Benz, to match most of the rest of their fire department fleet..This version illustrates yet another approach to KLF design, and there are now quite a few very different recent posts of KLFs from Germany by J-P - it’s interesting to see no-one has tried to standardize the designs yet. This one has only space for two crew, which is common among German city fire services which have operated these for quite a few years now, but some which have adopted the idea more recently have a crew cab and can seat up to four or five.
In general, they seem to be getting bigger, as more kit and a larger crew are more and more often included - so some are getting near to a fully fledged light pumper….
