Battenburg markings are all very well, but nowadays brigades have lost their individuality. If you parked this Ely Scania alongside a Staffs Scania, you would be hard-pressed to spot the difference. Today it seems that only Shropshire and West Sussex have unique, striking liveries . Good on 'em!

I agree with the comments regarding Battenburg markings, and agree some brigades have gone to the extreme with over doing it.Regarding West Sussex and their most unique livery, they to have decided on using battenburg markings on the latest deliveries of appliances.Lets hope they don't change the unique white over red livery on the cabs....Pete M.

Oh I forgot Lancashire's livery - another unique design.

Liveries are rubbish, stripes are better on fire engines.

Fozaib, a livery is a distinctive colour scheme and design used to distinguish an organization.

in my opinion, devon FRS has the best individual livery

I agree each brigade should still be an individual, but there has to be some conformity around the country to ensure easy recognition.

The livery can never be too visible.

South Yorks had by far the best livery, but that has been ruined now.... most liveries are starting to look a bit bland, and that's a shame, maybe next a national fire service if this government has it's own way....

Lots of laughs at these comments on my part! A fire engine should be red, all over. Over the years we had Coventry yellow, West Yorks white and the lovely habit of airfield machines looking like delivery vans. All people, in most countries, recognise red and get out of the way. As for reflective battenburg, thats for plod. John, if its NFS we will all be dark gloss green!
