I can't identify this appliance. My copy seems to say Northampton? Is it a Dennis Merryweather or a Leyland. I can't even tell if it is a half cab but I think not. Anybody identify the codes between the firefighter's legs.

The chassis is Leyland, and the ladder structure looks like Metz, which would make sense - as Leyland were the importers of Metz ladders in the 1930s. A number of identical ladders were supplied to London between 1933 and 1938, and were that brigade's first turntable ladders to have a pump.

The London ladders were 30 meter four section ladders, which were pretty much the standard in the 1930s. This was a five section ladder, which was explained in the comments to the color picture 26661 on this site, and rather unusual - if not unique in the UK - at that time.

I think Paris FB had a Merryweather ladder like this on a Saurer Chassis. It was at that time an avant-garde combination for France.
