It is standard procedure for German fire departments to have dedicated press officers. They normally wear easily identifiable green shoulder insignia and are on scene at all major incidents where representatives of the press are likely to be present. One aspect of this professional approach is that it does a lot to help maintain the status and respect which the population have in general for their fire services.
