UIISC Unites d'Instruction et d'Intervention de la Securite Civile Civil Defense (French Army-Corps of Engineers) In France Civil Defense is part civilian & part army
The CCFM 4000 designation indicates that this unit has a 4000 litre water tank, which is a common variant of the CCF series of brush trucks. These, based on their dimensions and gross vehicle weights, have tanks between 1000 and 6000 litres on 4X4 versions, with a Unimog 6X6 7000 litre version, working with tandem or four axle support tankers up to 13, 000. As far as I know, they do not have any truck-trailer water tankers.
As illustrated here, the Civil Defense units are very similar to those operated by the country’s departmental fire services and the BMPM in Marseilles, and similar but often smaller trucks are also operated by forestry fire brigades. In addition to brush pumpers, the French Civil Defense also operate an extensive fleet of aircraft tankers for fire fighting, some of which are illustrated on this site. These are essential for tackling brush fires in terrain which is too steep, too wooded or otherwise inaccessible to any type of brush truck.
