This specification is intended mainly for volunteer fire companies, whether part of a city’s combined full time and volunteer brigade or an all volunteer fire company in a smaller community. Based on MAN, Mercedes Atego or Iveco chassis, these have a 1000 LPM pump, a 600 to 900 litre tank and usually a nine seat cab, although more recently a lot are being delivered with a six seat cab.

Options include a high pressure pump with hose reel and/or a foam or CAFS installation. Ladders are specified locally, but usually include a four section scaling ladder set and often an extension ladder too.

Although the DIN specification calls for only 600 litres of water, many customers opt for larger tanks, and this may be one reason for opting for a smaller crew cab.
