Fire Engines Photos

This is very similar to the Dinky Land Rover fire engine model no. 109

Ed: though that did not have the truly flat cab roof of these low profile examples

A much better idea was to mount a lightweight Coventry Climax 500 gem pump on the front bumper. This vastly increased the available space for the water tank, hose reel and equipment in the rear. A lot of Land Rovers and three axle Range Rovers were built with this front mounted pump configuration, and of course it was the standard configuration for the Austin Gypsy fire pump. Similar Land Rover light pumps also turned up overseas with front mounted pumps for the same reason, and some are

Building a water tank into the front bumper must have made for interesting driving and steering characteristics, especially as between full and empty - not to mention when it was half full. Baffling!
