BSV920 AEC Merryweather TL

bit of a mystery as I can't identify this one or crest on door. Registration seems to indicate Kinross but Perth and Kinross brigade did not have a TL of this registration. They did have LES448 and it was an AEC. Has it been re-registered? Anybody know?

I think you're correct to suggest it may have been re-registered. I'm pretty sure 'SV' like 'SU' is one of the unused Scottish registrations that get issued in such cases.

Ed: I have found a flaw in my logic though. Graeme Kirkwood's website says" B157USR, Dodge G16/G&T/Merryweather B (ladders Ex LES448)" so this picture cannot be LES448!

Just to top up Grant's info LES448 carried the earlier Type A Ladder. When that ladder set was mounted on the Dodge G16 chassis which became B157USR, it looked a bit of a miss-match and didn't make for a good looking appliance. Grant might be able to confirm but 157 wasn't in service all that long?

B157USR when new was sent 1st to the Kingsway Fire Station 11 which didn't last long(Which I have a photograph of) Then transferred to the Old Station 2 Strathmore Avenue, which I remember in 1990. Then MacAlpine Road Jan 1991 when the station just went operational. Disposed of in 1992 after a Leading Fireman was killed in England after a similar ladder collapsed with fatigue at a drill. The ladders was removed and the chassis remained up at Perth with the intention to make it a prime mover. It never happened and was sold off/scrapped.
