Another rare feature of this example is the front cab doors, which had the advantage that BA sets could be more easily accommodated inside the cab, as the DPO and OIC did not need to climb in from the rear doors.

22 years in service! Quite a long time for a British water tender; most brigades seem to have replaced then after around 12 to 15 years.

Ed: modern 15 years in UK is due to leasing. 20 years plus used to be common.

I thought most county appliances on commercial chassis like the Bedfords and Commers were often turned over more quickly, while brigades tended to hang onto their more expensive custom Dennis and Merryweather appliances. Darlington for example replaced both Commer water tenders after around fourteen years but kept their Dennis F 12 on the roster for close to twenty.
